I have taught A Level, IB and the Dutch national curriculum in both Dutch and English as well as A Level Business. As Head of Department I oversaw the introduction of Business Economics into my school in the Netherlands and at King's College Madrid I codeveloped and delivered the IBDP Economics Programme (SL and HL) after the introduction of the IB Diploma Programme into the school.
Together with 2 colleagues I introduced IGCSE Global Perspectives into our school as a replacement for "maatschappijleer". This new subject received very positive feedback from students and very good exam results for the first two cohorts.
I have been a form teacher for classes from Year 7 all the way upto Year 13. I enjoy supporting students with the transition into and out of secondary education, but also especially love working with students who require SEN support.
I am an experienced Personal Project and Extended Essay supervisor and find the collaborative learning process extremely rewarding.
With a BSc Science and an MSc Economics I taught IGCSE Science at Hanova International School for 2 years, I teach KS3 Chemistry at King's College, and taught Maths to year 7 & 8 at Wolfert Bilingual in Rotterdam for 5 years.
As Head of Department of the Economics and Business Economics department at Wolfert Bilingual my main focus was on the following areas: 1) a shared written curriculum; 2) a cross-curricular Economics project for all year 9 students; 3) the successful introduction of the new subject Business Economics that replaced Management & Organisation; and 4) a programme of continuous student feedback and professional development.
I have been subject coach to four different trainee teachers from four different university teacher training programmes (ICLON, WTP, Stagiairs in Onderwijs, HR) and have completed ICLON's subject coach training programme. I also work closely with new teachers to ease their transition into our school and to ensure the educational vision of our school and department is reflected in all of our lessons.
As arithmetics coordinator at the Wolfert Bilingual I 1) wrote our school's arithmetics policy which was part of the set of documents sent to the inspection team that gave our school the predicate "excellent"; 2) incorporated arithmetics in the upper-years Maths curriculum; 3) arranged a support programme for lower-years students in danger of falling below national standards; 4) arrange parent information sessions on the role of arithmetics in our school and the Dutch curriculum; 5) analysed, evaluated and communicated standardised test results, and coordinated student actions based on those results; and 6) developed a support mechanism for students with dyscalculia.
I work part-time at the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences as an Economics teacher.
I was the school coordinator of the Giving Back programme which matched talented first-generation higher-educated students with an out-of-school mentor who shared his/her professional network and experience with these students.
I was involved in a cooperation with Blijberg Bilingual primary school to allign the primary and secondary arithmetics curricula to help smooth the transition from primary to secondary education.
I am a member of the organisation of Duth Economics teachers in the Netherlands. I actively participate in the annual meetings to discuss the central exams to provide feedback to CITO and the CvT on the quality of their examinations.
I have worked closely with the counselors at every school I work in. I am very experienced in supporting students with giftedness, autism, ADHD, and dyscalculia.
I am the debate & MUN coordinator at my current school. We hold separate weekly debates for primary, KS3, and KS4-5. We have also participated in two online MUN's.
First of all, I want to thank you for the time you invested in Zep today; you have really put him at ease. Zep told me today that he thinks it's really special how much time you invest in him. All the attention is very much appreciated.

Ik denk namelijk dat u de docent bent geweest waar ik het beste mee om kon gaan dit jaar en waar ik het meest aan heb gehad.
I think you are the teacher I got on with the most and who has been the most helpful to me this year.

We pinken traantje weg, meneer Herben. Fijn dat u er de tijd voor had. Zeer prettig om te horen dat u de vinger op de zere plek legt en dat we erkenning krijgen voor al onze zorgen en ons gezwoeg.
We teared up a little, mister Herben. It was very nice of you to make time for this. It's very positive to hear that you know exactly what the issue is and that we get recognition for all our worries and hard work.
